This paper presents the experience of the authors in teaching the Matlab™ software to students with different levels of academic training, even though all of them belong to the field of Science. Matlab™ is a worldwide standard in technical programming and computing, and its use is still growing; therefore, it is taught in many different university degree programs (Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, etc.). The course analyzed in this paper contains examples of different fields of knowledge to show the students the versatility and power of this tool. Abstract This paper seeks to analyse the directive on the application of patients’ rights in cross-border healthcare. Two years after the transposition, it is time for first evaluations of its application, performance and perception. The analysis consists of three major elements: reconstruction of the legal scope and subject matter of the new legislation, conclusions of the evaluative reports monitoring its implementation and performance as well as the public opinion polls revealing the EU citizens’ perception of its details. Our publication focuses on two different but related topics in politics: in the first part of this publication, we investigate the influence of election results in the elections for the parliaments of the German states and for the German Diet (federal parliament) on the member numbers of the largest parties in the various states. In the second part of this publication, we consider the correlations between opinion polls and election results and focus on the question whether real election results can be predicted by opinion polls.

Demokracja medialna w III RP jest nowoczesną formą demokracji, w której mass media wpływają w znaczącym stopniu na decyzje podejmowane przez obywateli. Ponadto obywatele realizują swoje prawa (jak np. wolność słowa, czy wolny dostęp do informacji) i mają możliwość angażowania się w życie polityczne kraju. W artykule przedstawiono pokrótce podejście Polaków do demokracji. Następnie opisano pojęcie demokracji medialnej i mediatyzację polityki. Końcowa część artykułu została poświęcona przybliżeniu wpływu sondaży oraz opinii publicznej na decyzje wyborcze obywateli.
